Re: Having run time error problem

The runtime or run-time error message can be caused by:

    1. Confliction with TSR or other running program

    2. Software issue

    3. Computer Virus

    4. Memory issue

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag, and then click OK.

    2. Click the Display tab. In the DirectX Features area, make sure that DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct3D Acceleration are enabled.

Note: Windows Vista automatically enables DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct 3D Acceleration if these features are supported by the display device and by the driver.

    3. If either feature is disabled, click Enable next to the disabled feature.

    4. Click OK when you are prompted.

    5. If multiple video adaptors are installed on the computer, repeat steps 2 through 4 on each Display tab.

    6. Click Exit to close the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

Re: Having run time error problem

Try the following to avoid it (for XP Users, I don't know if it works for Vista-Users too)

    1. Set your Desktop Colour Depth to 16 Bit

    2. Deactivate the Sound-Hardware-Acceleration via dxdiag.

Several other applications, that need a 32 Bit colour depth or a hardware-accelerated sound, won't work correctly after you have done this, but Infinity-Engine Games will. So if you want to play e.g. Oblivion, make sure to reset the Colour Depth to 32 Bit and activate the Sound-Hardware-Acceleration again.
