Changing game resolution without opening the game

Hi all,
When I open mirrors edge I get the infamous "no signal" so the default res must be too high or its the refresh rate simple fix right? Not! there is no config utility or safe mode exe for this game. I looked through my registry but didn't find anything for resolution. Does anyone know how to adjust the resolution from outside the game?

1. Go to Documents (My Documents if Windows XP) => EA Games => Mirror's Edge => TdGame => Config.
   
2. Make a copy TdEngine.ini so you have a back up.
   
3. Open TdEngine.ini with the text editor of your choice.
   
4. Do a search for ResX or ResY (They're under the [SystemSettings] comment).
   
5. Change the value of both to your desired resolution.
   
6. For example:
   
   
   • ResX=1680
   • ResY=1050
   
   
7. Save your changes, and start up the game. The game should now default to the new resolution.
