ATI Radeon HD 4870 and Far Cry 2

I'm going to purchase ATI Radeon HD 4870. The only reason for buying is Far Cry 2. Just i want to know that will 4870 be sufficient to play far cry 2 ? or i should go foe something else one. My bro is just saying me that i should buy GTX 280 instead. Because his saying that NVIDIA is far better than ATI. I also think so but still wanna buy 4870. So guys just give me advice what to do?

The 4870 can handle it but the 4870x2 would run it way better. And GTX 280 will best for it.

Ya my friend have ATI 4870 and it works fine with Far Cry 2.

Its not like that NVIDIA is far better. Yes but we need more from ATI such as marketing just like Nvidia, you know like when the game starts it states Nvidia the ways it's meant to be played with a big logo. We need something like that ATI needs to get more involved with the game developers at the begining stages. I think that would make it a lot easier for the driver division. Well this just my opinion.
