In a double dose of info the Uncharted sequel we all knew was coming has been confirmed along with a few bread crumbs of info on the sophomore chapter for the young series. Titled Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the January issue of Game Informer promises a full 10 pages on the game, but we get a few first tidbits from their teaser story for the magazine. In addition, GameTrailers has a brief video up to whet your appetite for their exclusive video debut of the game during the Spike Video Game Awards show airing Sunday, 12/14 at 9pm.
From the Game Informer story, the new game adds a free climbing mechanic and stealth gameplay to the existing run-and-gun exploration style of the original. In the video, Drake trudges through deep snow to retrieve an ornamental dagger lamenting that maybe he should have quit while he was ahead. Not much more can be gleaned from watching it, but along with the note from GI that the new story revolves around the voyages of Marco Polo it's a relatively safe bet that he's somewhere in Tibet. Polo spent many years in China during the legendary reign of Kublai Khan, Mongol ruler and founder of the Yuan Dynasty.

And while the snowy wilds of the Himalayas definitely hold plenty of potential adventuring fodder, hopefully the sequel keeps to the globetrotting of the original and includes more of the lush jungle environments it did so well. With any luck we should get some answers to our questions shortly.
