help: good AGP card for recent games

hi friends! I'm new to this forum or infact any forum. Today I was searching for graphics cards and stumbled upon trip site and registered.
I'm new to the video gaming world though I've played NFS Most Wanted on my friend's system.
I've got a 5year old rig with an Intel P4 2.8GHz heart, Intel 865GBF chipset and 512Mb RAM. The chipset has a 8x AGP slot but no PCIe slot.
Now I'm plannig to buy a graphics card within Rs.6k. Please suggest me the best AGP card in this range so that I can play the recent games.

why not consider upgrading ur whole system...u wont get anything worth from graphics cards from the old rig

I considered that too but I'm on a budget constraint and the old rig's still giving me Good performance.
Btw, can you please tell me how much will a new, good gaming system cost?

Or buy the cheaper, 256mb x1600, or even a X800.
AGP, is getting type of old.

This card is just about the best AGP performance gain you will get for your buck next to the Geforce 7800GS that costs almost twice as much and you don`t get all the goodie`s vs. the AIW. You will see a substantial gain over your 9800 Pro. Plus the AIWX800XT has 16 pipes. My performance doubled over the modded 9700 Pro I had previously.

Rather move to a newer pci-e setup with intergraded motherboard like a AMD 780g with 2 gigs of ram & a X2 or X3 cpu around 2.3-2.4 & you'll game & be much happier with a system like that.

first of all hello , i am a new member to this forum,
no assassin u cannot keep ur 2.8 processor and go for a new mobo, cos ur processor is 478-pin and for intel mobos having pci-express uses 775-pinless dual core or celeron processors...ur best bet is to get a nvidia 6800,7600 or ati radeon x800,1650 or 1950....the only best Agp card u could get is 3850 from radeon , but it will cost u more than 10,000 Rs

nvidia 7600 is okay as long as u use medium setting for games,cos i was using 6800Ultra till last month and i was pretty happy with those... forget crysis... not even 8800gtx could make them run better i dont know how much 7600 gonna cost

Your config seems pretty Impressive. How much did it cost? I know, my rig's old and I may upgrade it after 1 year as with this I'm not going anywhere.
