1720-SMART HARD DRIVE detects imminent failure.

Hi, am facing some problem with my Windows 98 system. From last couple of days am getting an error saying

“Error #1 before boot - 1720-SMART HARD DRIVE detects imminent failure. Your hard disk drive is detecting an imminent failure. To ensure no data loss, backup contents and replace this hard disk. Attribute Failed: #05”

Can anyone tell me what is it related about ?

The message is showing the indication that your hard drive has already started failing. You should buy a new hard drive as soon as possible if you don’t want to lose your data. Once you install the new drive, install the software you would get with the new drive so that you can transfer your existing data to the new one. Also I would like to suggest you to better do a fresh install of operating system on the new drive if you don’t want to face any problem in the future.
