Last DirectX version with Windows98 SE.

I have installed Windows 98 SE on my computer and have also installed DirectX version for my ATI graphics from the driver CD. Since I was using the same directx version for a couple of months now, I thought of upgrading to the latest one, so when I downloaded the updated directx version then it was not getting installed on my pc? So, can anyone tell me what is the last version of the DirectX for Windows 98 SE that can work properly without any issues?

I cannot say that there is some latest version of DirectX version available for Windows 98 SE but for me DirectX v.9.0b is working properly. However, you can try to use the web installer from the below link, and it will require a web connection during the installation when it downloads all the components during the installation.

    DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

You can also download the much larger Redistributable file which is suggested for people who dont have internet connection during installation or for people who was to install it on multiple computer, the link is available below for download:

DirectX 9.0c Redistributable for Software Developers

Sorry for the bump, but you can install DirectX 9.0c on Windows 98 SE. The last revision you can do this is April 2006.
