    It must be a pain to have a bad sense of direction! Have a GPS , that should be a good idea...but do u know how to upgrade it! Here are some tips about it! Hope it would help!

    GPS navigators have become vital tools for both road warriors and casual drivers to make their way across town or across the country. As such, it’s of utmost importance to keep maps up to date. Here’s what you’ll need to do in order to update the top GPS manufacturers’ models.

    How to Update Your Garmin nuvi GPS

    • Point your browser toward Garmin’s update page (www8.garmin.com/unlock/update.jsp), and enter your product’s serial number.
    • If your device has new maps available, the site will direct you to a page where you can order an update DVD for $70.
    • When you receive the DVD, pop it into your computer (Mac or PC), and connect the nüvi via a USB cable.
    • The DVD will prompt you to enter a product key, which is on the back of the DVD’s jewel case. The software will automatically launch and begin updating the device.






    How to Update Your Magellan Maestro GPS

    • Visit Magellan’s homepage (www.magellangps.com). Click Products and select Maps & Software from the drop-down menu. You’ll see selections for Outdoors and Recreational Maps and Street Maps.
    • To obtain new Outdoors and Recreational Maps, first insert an SD Card into your device, then connect a USB cable from your notebook to the device and download the maps you desire for $29.99 to $99.99.
    • To obtain new Street Maps, click the name of your model and you’ll be taken to a page where you can purchase the DVD for $79.99.
    • Once you receive the Street Maps DVD, install it onto your notebook. Connect your unit via USB and download the new map







    How to Update Your Mio Digiwalker GPS

    • Mio offers a Map Update DVD for its C310x model. You can order the disc at mapupdate.mio-tech.com for $69.95 (plus $9.95 for shipping).
    • When you receive the update DVD, turn on the device and connect it to your computer via USB. Insert the DVD.
    • On the main menu, select Update Firmware. If a message appears stating that the firmware on the Mio is the latest version, you can
    • immediately skip to Step 5. If not, it should take approximately 40 seconds to update the firmware.
    • When the firmware finishes updating, click OK when the Update Complete message appears. Disconnect the USB cable.
    • Re-initialize the Mio by sliding the power switch off, and then turning it back on. Complete the language and time settings.
    • Connect the Mio to your notebook via USB and click Update Maps.
    • The map selection screen will appear. Click Load Map.
    • The Map Updating Activation window will appear. Click the link to access the Web site to get the Activation Code.
    • Return to the Map Updating Activation window and enter the DVD’s serial number (found on the back of the DVD’s packaging), as well as the Activation Code. Click Transmit to Device.







    How to Update Your TomTom GPS

    • Install the TomTom Home software onto your notebook from the device’s bundled updates DVD.
    • Plug in your unit via USB.
    • Click Preferences, and then Check for Update.
    • If a message appears stating that you have the latest maps, you’re done.
    • If a message appears stating that there are new maps available, click the Download button to sync them to your unit free of charge.

    The Lowrance I-Way 500c has about identical update instructions to the Garmin Nuvi.

    Order DVD of updates from LEI-Extrasinc. $74.99

    connect via USB cable (Provided) and the disk comes w/ everything you need.

    Well, that really stinks. It's kind of expensive to update my GPS.
