Create new partition - lose XP?

    Hi...

I am new here, please be patient....

    I have a 300 GB hdd.
Quickly I loaded XP on it because I needed it fast.
But things went wrong and XP is limping - but works.
Now I decided to crrate a new partition and load XP again PROPERLY - while I do not loose the ability of working on the old one.

    Question:
If I use Partition Magic 7 to change the size of my existing partition (300 gb) to 150 and create a new one, would I loose the existing XP and data?

    Thanks

    Attila

If you are having plenty of free diskspace on your drive more then 200 GB you can successfully create a new partition from existing single drive

    Ok

    Thanks...

    I know... it sounds silly.

But can you confirm.... as far everything goes normal, the following sequence would work OK:

-On the existing XP (on a 300 gb single partition) start PM 7.
-Shrink the existing partition half the size
-Cereate a new particion. (same size)
    -The original XP stays intact.

I am just worry that I loose a lot of work.

The PM7 sits whit the button "apply changes" ready for a click.

I have never did this before, so i am a bit nerveus...

    Thanks.

You can use it, but i recommend you to use Partition 8.0.
I used it to do the same work, I've created only 10gb (C to install Windows, and created 50 gb (D to install softwares.DOn't install to C:\Program files\, you can create a folder D:\Program Files\ then install al softwares, applications to it, this work will make your windows load fastly.
P/S : data isn't losed if you use Par.. 8.0

Before you resize existing partition, you'd better back up your data on that partition. I haven't use PM Before. I use freeware EASEUS Partition Manager, it slower than PM but it does work. .
