Precautions to be taken before doing the process
- Take Data Backup
- F11 Features should be same in both the company
- To import transactions Financial year should be same.
Formats available in tally
- ASCII: To export\import data from tally to excel.
- HTML(Web-Publishing):To export\import data from tally to website or to excel
- SDF(Fixed width): To export\import data from tally to excel or withing tally
- XML (Data Interchange): To export\Import data within TALLY.
Steps to Export and Import withing tally
- Export and Import Masters
- Export and Import Transactions.
Steps to Export Masters
Open Exporting company > Display > List of accounts > Press ALT+E\Click on Export > Language > Select All languages(This option is not available in tally7.2) Format XML Format > Specify Output File name > Type of masters > All Masters.
masters has been exported successfully.
Steps to Import Maters in case of tally7.2
Open Importing company > Import masters > Specify file name given while exporting
Steps to Import Maters in case of tally9
Open Importing company > Import Data > Masters > Specify file name given while exporting > treatment of entries already exist > Modify with new data.
Specify import file name and press enter masters will be imported.
To Export Transactions
Open Exporting company > Display> Day Book > Specify date range by pressing Alt+F2 > Press ALT+E\Click on Export > Language > Select All languages(This option is not available in tally7.2) Format> XML Format > Specify Output File name > Select vouchers to show > All Vouchers.
After specifying the export file and all other required details press enter transaction will be exported successfully.
Steps to Import Transactions in Tally7.2
Open Importing company > Import Transactions > Specify file name given while exporting > Format > XML Format.
Steps to Import Transactions in Tally9.
Open Importing company > Import data > Vouchers > Specify file name given while exporting.

Transactions are imported successfully.
Exporting data from Tally to Excel.
Let us consider we want to export Balance Sheet to excel.
Go to Balance sheet > Press ALT+E\Click on Export > Language > Select All languages(This option is not available in tally7.2) Format > HTML Format > Specify Output File name.
Open Excel > File > Open > Select the drive where tally is installed > Select tally Folder > Files of Type > Select All Files > Select File name given while exporting, Balance sheet will be opened as it is how it appears in Tally.
