Useful Tips for WinZip

WinZip is the most popular compression software for PCs. It significantly reduces the size of your files by compressing them. Here are some tips on this program.

Add comments to your files! : You can with Winzip, add comments to your files will be displayed each time you open the archive. To add comments to your files do the following:

• Open the archive in which you want to add comments.
• Go to the Actions menu, Commentary.
• Tapper comments allowed.
• Once you are done with the comments then press Save button.

Your archive now contains a commentary on its opening! As you may have noticed another button also delete any comments inserted. Another button, called police, you can change the font, size and all the usual parameters (except color) to allow you to customize your comment :-)

Toolbar style Internet Explorer : If you like the look of toolbars like Internet Explorer, WinZip offers to adopt it. Select Configuration from the Options menu, click the Toolbars tab, and check buttons on the toolbar and type Explorer Buttons dishes. Uncheck Use large buttons if you prefer smaller buttons.

Divide a ZIP archive into several pieces : You can create an archive split over several floppy disks. Simply create a file on a floppy disk, then add the files as you would normally. If the disk becomes full during the addition, insertion of another disk is requested. Insert it and click OK.

ZIP sent to a user without Winzip : If you want to send files to users who do not have an unzip utility, try the "WinZip Self-Extractor Personal Edition (included with WinZip). It produces files that unpack themselves. First create a file and select Create File. Exe in the Actions menu of WinZip.

Installs easily inside your archives : WinZip can install software, desktop themes and screen savers contained in the archive. To use this feature, simply open an archive containing a facility (or SETUP.EXE SETUP.EXE), a theme or a screensaver and click on the Install button.

Zip file or folder quickly : You can "zip" file or directory in seconds! Indeed, right-click on the file or folder that you want to "zip" and click "Add to xxxxx.zip" (the x means the name of your file or directory). Split Your File-
Winzip files can easily be created with the file size you specify. To send large files by e-mail, many email services have limited the size of files that can be sent. The ability to copy larger files to a number of 1.44 MB floppies is also useful.
For this, Simply open the program. Select "create new file" and attach all the files you want to compress. Once this is done, choose "Actions" -> "Split". This opens a dialog box asking for file names that will be generated and the size you want them to have. After selecting this, just click OK and the file will automatically be divided into as many parts as necessary.
