    Helpful tips for Microsoft FrontPage

Here I have provided some useful tips that you can easily implement on your Microsoft FrontPage document. But make sure that you have a latest version of FrontPage and its all needed components installed on your computer system.

Add a video : You can add a video to your page, regardless of type, provided it is readable by Windows Media Player. In Page view, place the insertion point where you want to insert a video clip. On the Insert menu, select Picture and then click Video. If the video file is not found on a website, click the File button. Locate the video file and select it. Tip If Microsoft Internet Explorer is installed on your computer, you can click the Preview tab to preview the video. Please note that some web browsers do not support video files.

Easily animate your menus : When you click or tap the name of a menu, this menu can "unfold" from top to bottom or left to right, "drag" from top to bottom, or randomly adopt one or other effect. On the Tools menu, click Customize and then click the Options tab. In the Animation menu list, select the type of animation you want, or click No to disable the animation of menus.

Change the color of links : To change the color of links go to the menu "Format" then the background. You can, from this menu, change the color of the link, click the link and the link to visit.

Convert Text to Table : You can convert text to a table if it has been delimited (separated into rows and columns with separator characters). If your text is not delimited, type separator characters to where you want to divide the text into columns and rows. For example, use commas to divide the columns, and use paragraph marks to mark the ends of lines.

In addition to converting text to a table with rows and columns, you can create a picture of a cell that contains all the selected text. If you use a table for layout, you may choose to keep all the selected text in the table together. In Page view, select the text you want to convert to a table. On the Table menu, point to Convert, and then click Convert Text to Table. Specify the column separator character that you used, or click No to create a picture of a cell. Since HTML coding Council does not directly recognize tab characters, it is recommended not to use tab characters as a text delimiter.

Create hidden folders : When you create a Web site, FrontPage automatically creates a hidden folder named _private to store form results. This hidden folder created by FrontPage can be viewed by site visitors browsing your site. If you want other folders are hidden, you can create subfolders under the _private folder or you can contact your website administrator to find out how to create a hidden folder.

Create Task : Use tasks to update and manage your website. You can assign tasks, sort them by priority and link to pages, images, sounds and other Office documents, or any other file in your website. Please note that If you create a task in Page while editing a page, the new task is automatically associated. To link a task to a page or file in another profile, select the file and then create the task.

    1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Task.
    2. In the Name of the task, type the name of the task.
    3. Assigned to the area, type or select the name of the person, group work or another area in which you want to assign the task.
    4. In the Description box, type a description of the task.
    5. In the Priority box, select a priority for the task.

Note : The field displays Associated with the file name associated with the task, if one exists.

Importing a database : You can easily import a Microsoft Access database or other in the current Web. That is, you view the data from the database into your pages using the Query Wizard database.

    • To import a database into your website, copy the desired database in Windows Explorer, then paste the file in the Folder List in FrontPage. FrontPage asks if you want to create a connection to a database, and then solicits the name of the connection.
    • To view information from the database imported into a page, run the Wizard database (point to Database command on the Insert menu, click Query Wizard database).
    • When you import an Access database on a Web site, FrontPage creates a folder fpdb which it assigns permissions restricted to prohibit the display of files from within a Web browser. Be sure to place the database files in the folder fpdb to protect against unwanted access.
