    Useful tips for Windows Live Messenger

    See people who have you in their list : Want to know who has you in their list with the eventual goal of eliminating those who do have more in them? Nothing could be easier. Go to the Tools menu and Options. Then click the Privacy tab. Under the two lists, you will find an option named View the list of users like me added to their contacts followed by a Display button. You only have to click that last button to display the list of people who have added you to their contacts.

    Recover smileys personal contacts : One of your contacts to send you a smiley that you want to have? Nothing is easier! Right-click your mouse on the smiley in question and choose add! It will become part of your personal list of smileys!

    Do not display the MSN Today : You do not want to display the MSN Today window to log on MSN? Nothing is easier! Go to the Tools menu and options window general MSN Messenger. Appointment thereafter on the General tab and uncheck the Show MSN Today when logging in to Messenger. That is, MSN will no longer appear today when you sign in MSN!

    Share your background with your partner! : It is now possible, since version 6.0 of MSN Messenger, to put a custom background in the bottom of your conversations. You have a background that you want to share with one of your contacts? Nothing is easier! In the conversation window, click the Background button and click on Share the background current. An invitation is sent to the caller asking if he wants to share your background with you!

    Do not show the icon of your correspondents : You do not want the icon of your correspondents appear to the right of the chat window? Nothing is easier! Go to the Tools menu and options window general MSN Messenger. In the window that appears, it will suffice if you uncheck the Show the photo of my interlocutors in the chat window. Here, the icon of your correspondents will now always hidden!

    Remove the statement that you have a webcam : One of the new MSN Messenger 6.0, is to tell your audience if you have a webcam displaying an icon in the chat window to the right of your name. Outside, this option is enabled by default in MSN Messenger 6.0 even if you do not have a webcam. It is therefore practical to disable this message! To do this, from the main Messenger window, go to the Tools menu and Options. In the option window that is displayed on the screen, you will have, at the bottom, a cache check Indicate name to other users that I have a webcam. There are only required to clear this cache to remove the icon to the right of your name in conversation windows!

    Prevent MSN Messenger from starting at the same time as Windows : You do not want MSN Messenger to start at the same time as Windows? Nothing is easier! Go to the Tools menu and options window general MSN Messenger. Appointment thereafter on the General tab and uncheck Automatically run Messenger at the opening of my Windows session. That, MSN Messenger will no longer boot Windows at the same time!

    Disable automatic execution of winks : You can easily disable the automatic execution of winks it bothers you. To do this, from the main window of MSN Messenger 7, click the Tools menu and Options. The options panel will open. In the left panel of options you'll see a section labeled message, click it. On the right side, you will have access to an option called Auto Play winks upon receipt. Uncheck to disable the automatic execution of winks.

    Disable Wizz : You can easily disable Wizz it bothers you. To do this, from the main window of MSN Messenger 7, click the Tools menu and Options. The options panel will open. In the left panel of options you'll see a section labeled message, click it. On the right side, you will have access to a named options allow me to send and receive nudges. Uncheck it to disable nudges.

    Note that disabling this option, you can not send nudges you either.

    Create your business card : You may have noticed that many have business cards and would like you also have yours? From the main window, click the My Spaces, at the top. This takes you to a page that allows you to create your own.

    Change your status to away after X minutes : You want your status to be changed automatically after X minutes of inactivity on your computer? Nothing more simple, go to the Tools menu and Options. In the window that will appear in the My Status you will find an option show the status "absent (e)" after X minutes of inactivity. It'll just change the time in the field. By default, this setting is 5 minutes.

    Change your icon : To change your icon, it's easy! Go to the Tools menu and change my picture in the main window of MSN Messenger. You can also access this menu during a conversation by clicking the arrow in the lower right corner at the bottom of your icon to the right of the area where you write your text! After clicking on Edit Profile Picture, a window will appear allowing you to choose your icon. Two choices are available. You can use the icons available to you or get a custom icon by clicking Browse and fetching the image you want to use as the icon! But beware! This picture does not do more than 90 pixels by 90 pixels, otherwise your image will be clipped, and contacts will do that part!
