It is now necessary to update the functionality level Active Directory domain. We must position ourselves on the domain controller that currently holds the FSMO role of Domain Infrastructure (this often coincides with the domain controller that holds the Schema Master role mentioned above), log on with an account that is part of the Domain Admins and copy a folder in the shell contents of the \ sources \ adprep on the DVD to install Windows Server 2008 (if the server is the same, the folder is already present). If the current domain is a Windows 2000 domain from a command prompt there adprep placed in the folder you just created, and type:
adprep / domainprep / gpprep
If the current domain is a Windows 2003 domain from a command prompt there adprep placed in the folder you just created, and type:
adprep / domainprep
The domain functional level we're going to upgrade must already be in Native mode, which should not be present in Windows NT Server 4.0 domain controllers. In the event that the domain was still in Mixed mode, you see this error message in the very early stages of renovation.
