How to use ipconfig command to restore Internet

Knowing at least a command is absolutely necessary to make those first tests for verifying the functionality of your computer. In particular, to resolve any problems with the internet, you need to know how to use the ipconfig command. This is not an obscure concept in computer science, only understandable to technicians and professionals, but a command that everyone should know and whose use is as simple and useful. Ipconfig command that is run is done by the technician that is called when the internet does not work at home. So before going to several call centers and losing a lot of time and patience, you should try to restore the connection yourself by following these simple instructions.

Re: How to use ipconfig command to restore Internet

First of all, to enter the command prompt, go to Start -> Run and type cmd or you should find it from Start -> Programs -> Accessories. When a fearsome black window with white blinking cursor, there must be absolutely frightening, it's just a window from which to launch commands written by hand on the keyboard. To test, type ipconfig / all and press Enter so to read all the major network parameters of the computer or IP address, Subnet Mask, MAC address, Gateway, DHCP Server, DNS and other details concerning the network. The IP address is, in essence, the identifier that is assigned automatically by the DHCP server to your computer when you go on the internet or connecting to an internal computer network.

A first type of test to check your Internet connection is type ping google.com. If you know the IP address of the DHCP server (usually the same as the default gateway) is 192.168.1.1 you can go to command prompt and type ping 192.168.1.1. If you get a response from Google, it means that the Internet works, and if Google does not respond but the gateway, it means that you are connected to the server and if any problems do not depend on Internet network provider (so the call center can not do anything and there is a problem on the computer).

Re: How to use ipconfig command to restore Internet

If the gateway or DHCP server is not responding and if typing ipconfig / all, you got an IP address like 0.0.0.0, it means that the fault is surely the network provider (Fastweb, Telecom and so on), unless you have a router / modem broke. This lack of connectivity, is shown on the desktop near the clock, with a notice of limited or no connectivity and a yellow exclamation point. If it appeared the Red Cross would mean that the cable is not connected. Before you rush out for help anyway you can restore the network groped for yourself using the command ipconfig / release and ipconfig / renew commands that are used to ask the server to issue a new private IP address automatically. The answers to these commands indicate immediately whether successful or not. If the Internet still does not work, you can run the command ipconfig / flushdns to clear the cache of the DNS client. This will erase any bad associations that DNS is nothing more than heading to the Internet where Web sites are associated with their names. Similarly, the command ipconfig / registerdns is used to re-register the names.

I understand that, who is not experienced, when reading guides on the command ipconfig fails to grasp its significance, the important thing is knowing how and when to use it because it can save a lot of trouble.
