You use Ubuntu Linux but you still need to use Windows programs? With VMware Player, you can create a virtual machine under Ubuntu, where you'll be able to install Windows. You can then run Windows in a window and run Ubuntu Windows software you need.
All these features are to work effectively, you can easily copy files from Windows to Ubuntu and vice versa, your Internet connection is active in Windows, your DVD drive, printer and sound card will be functional as well as your USB drive.
Finally, thanks to the Unity tool you can quickly launch Windows programs in Ubuntu individual windows. What a little blur the boundaries between the two systems.
Note that your Windows running in a virtual machine, performance will necessarily be lower than if it were a physical machine. However, for office work and multimedia, it is enough. Only games will be avoided.
