To access a website, an FTP server or to any other service on your computer from the internet, your visitors will enter your IP address, a sequence of numbers of the form XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.
But unless you have a fixed IP address (an option often pay your Internet service provider), your IP address is dynamic and constantly changing. Not so easy to access your Web site or other services on your computer (FTP, Remote Control, Game Server, ...) for example if the address changes all the time.
To overcome this problem, you can use no-ip free service that lets you create an address like [yourname]. No-ip.org which redirects your IP address. A small program on your PC is then responsible to report your new IP address to the service when change.
Your computer and the services therein will be ample time available for your no-ip address, even after a reboot or a change of IP.
