Convert your Dynamic IP to Static IP address

To access a website, an FTP server or to any other service on your computer from the internet, your visitors will enter your IP address, a sequence of numbers of the form XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.

But unless you have a fixed IP address (an option often pay your Internet service provider), your IP address is dynamic and constantly changing. Not so easy to access your Web site or other services on your computer (FTP, Remote Control, Game Server, ...) for example if the address changes all the time.

To overcome this problem, you can use no-ip free service that lets you create an address like [yourname]. No-ip.org which redirects your IP address. A small program on your PC is then responsible to report your new IP address to the service when change.

Your computer and the services therein will be ample time available for your no-ip address, even after a reboot or a change of IP.

    Create No-IP Account:

You must initially create a free account No-IP.

    • Visit at no-ip.com and Click on No-IP Free.
    • Then click the button Sign up now.
    • Fill out the information requested. Your e-mail address must be valid because you will receive a letter to activate your account.
    • Then click the button I Accept, Create my account.
    • An email is then sent. Open your email and click on the link to activate your account.
    • Your account is now activated.

    Choosing a domain name:

Your account is now created. You will be able to choose the address to use and redirect to your IP.

    • At no-ip, Enter your email address and password defined in the entry then click the Login button.
    • In the category Hosts / Redirects in the left menu, click the Add link.
    • Then enter in the Hostname text box sub-domain name that you want and then choose a domain name.
    • Finally, click on the button Create Host.
    • The domain name you just created now points to your IP address. However, you must wait 5 minutes for the address is active worldwide.

Re: Convert your Dynamic IP to Static IP address

    Access computer from anywhere:

    • In a Web browser, visitors must simply enter the domain name you have created, in our case clementpca.no-ip.org then press Enter to access such Web site that you host.

    • Address [yourname]. No-ip.org redirects to the IP address of your computer and can be used for your games gaming network, FTP server, control your computer remotely, ...

    Put paused redirection:

Since your computer is on, the redirect is effective. If you want to break the redirection it is possible.

    • Open No-IP client on your computer and change its options.
    • Then uncheck the box to Run on startup does not start the program at startup. Click OK.
    • Right-click on the icon of UCR in the notification area and select the Exit command.
    • Then go to the management interface for your account at No-IP. In the left column, click on Manage.
    • Then click the Modify button next to your domain name.
    • Then check the Enable Offline Mode now heading Offline option.
    • Finally, click the Modify button host. The redirection of the domain name your IP will be suspended.
    • To find it, you have to do the reverse, that is to say: Uncheck the box now Offline Mode on your No-IP account, start the No-IP DUC software on your computer and the options enable automatic startup.
