Make Windows XP smooth as Windows 7

If Windows XP works smoothly on the latest equipment, it can be trolling on an older machine or with economic components. For example Netbooks or nettops are not really swift and have limited disk space. If you start to open multiple applications simultaneously, you will soon experience slowdowns.

You can customize Windows to your material by removing or disabling everything that is unnecessary. You'll save responsiveness. Here are some of the tasks that you need to work on, just go through it:

    Limit the Visual Effects:

Many visual effects adorn the Windows interface. You can disable to improve responsiveness. Below is how to do the same:
    • Click the right mouse button on the My Computer icon located on the Desktop and select the Properties command.

    • Open the Advanced tab.

    • Click the Settings button under Performance.

    • Then select the option Adjust for best performance. All visual effects are disabled.

    • Note that you can manually activate an effect that is important to you by ticking the box. Then press OK twice.

    Rediscovering the classic theme:

The interface of Windows XP with all its colors and visual effects is consuming system resources. You can not keep clean and perfectly functional and interface.
    • Click the right mouse button on an empty space of desktop and choose the Properties command.

    • Scroll down and select Theme Windows Classic.

    • Click OK.

    • The theme of Windows XP Lite is immediately applied.

    Disable unnecessary services:

Some programs that launch at startup are invisible: they are services. There are dozens and some are useless. Both off, you can earn between 10 and 80 MB of RAM.

    • Click the Start button and then click Run.

    • In the Open field, type the command services.msc then confirm with Enter.

    • The services management console opens. To disable a service, double click it.

    • In the window that opens, scroll down the Startup Type list and select Disabled. The service will no longer be started with Windows.

    • Click the Stop button to stop it immediately.

    • Finally, click OK.

    • Here are some services you can disable: Remote Registry, Messenger, Help and Support, Support TCP / IP NetBIOS, Warning, Smart Card, Tracking Client Distributed Link, Secondary Logon, Network DDE, Windows Time, Performance Logs and Alerts, Automatic Updates Service Error Reporting ...

    Stop System Restore:

System Restore, which is to take regular snapshots of your system to restore it if a problem is very resource-intensive and disk space. If you know what you do on your computer, you can disable it. Careful, it will clearly not be possible to create restore points manually or automatically, so no going back if something goes wrong.

    • Click the right mouse button on the My Computer icon on the desktop and choose the Properties command.

    • Open the System Restore tab.

    • Then check the box Turn off System Restore on all drives.

    • Click OK and Yes to confirm the deactivation.

    Cut indexing:

If the search engine built into Windows XP is quite relevant since the integration of Windows Search, keeping the index of all files is quite cumbersome and resource intensive.

    • Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.

    • Double click the icon Indexing.

    • Click the Change button.

    • Then uncheck all boxes under indexed locations.

    • If there are sites included in the Location list, click it.

    • Uncheck the boxes in front of their names in the Location Topic indexed.

    • Click the OK button.

    • The list of sites is now empty. Click the Close button.

Thats it. You are Done !!!
