Show messaging conversations in transparent banner in Windows Live Messenger

If you're using Windows Vista, you're already accustomed to the effects of transparency of the system. Windows XP is already rare. With WLM-OSD will display the messages received via Messenger, in a transparent bandage.

    • Once this Add-on downloaded to your hard drive, shut down Windows Live Messenger. Please note, a simple disconnection is not enough, nor the only closure of the main window.
    • In the notification area, near the clock, right click on the icon and select Messenger Leave. Once the icon disappears, you can open it again.
    • This manipulation is necessary to refresh the list of Add-on " available in Windows Live Messenger. When the software is active again, click the drop down Tools> Options.
    • The options window has been changed slightly. In the list of menus that is in the side panels, click Complements.
    • In the middle pane of the window, click Add to Messenger. If you're running XP, select the plug-in that is in the folder Next: C: \ Program Files \ Nicolas Merlet \ WLM OSD Plugin " and open "WLM_OSD_Plugin.dll".

    • It must now adapt the operation of plug-in to your tastes and preferences. Also in the window Complements, Click Settings. With it, you will see the different configuration options WLM-OSD. You can keep the default settings by clicking once on Apply then OK.
    • WLM-OSD displays conversations in transparency on the desktop. The advantage is twofold: you avoid the proliferation of chat windows and most importantly, you can interact with the talk that seems most urgent.
    • For best results, transparency must be set according to the background image used on the machine. The default setting of 20% is not necessarily appropriate. Use the buttons near the field Set Transparency to increase or decrease this value.
    • An addition to adapting to variable: the position of the strip. Indeed, it is important that it overlaps with icons or shortcuts that you use frequently. Rather than disrupt the distribution of icons on the desktop, it is better to adjust the position of the band! Simply define the distance - in pixels - that will separate the top and base of the monitor: check boxes Screen from top position and Position from bottom screen and set a value.
    • In the right pane of the configuration options you can customize the messages displayed in the banner.
    • Using the four buttons present, set the color, font, or the graphic appearance assigned to each contact. Finally, for more efficiency, check Remove messages after, Set a time (in seconds) and require the display of the last 5 posts up.
    • When the settings are made, WLM-OSD is not provided operational. You must now activate the add-on. Close all chat windows, then open the main window. In the Status, Click on your username then on the menu that appears, click Enable WLM-OSD plugin. There is wait until you write your contacts.
