Contacts can be imported into in a special, as CSV File type referred to are saved from text file in which the elements are separated by commas or tabs. In many applications, e-mail contact information can be exported into text files. Information about exporting contacts to a text file, see the documentation for the application with the contacts you want to import into Entourage.
- Export the application from which you intend to export the contacts as a text file and then save the text file on the Mac. Note If you export contacts with a notes field from an application such as Microsoft Outlook, you can avoid problems by removing the paragraph marks from the notes.
- Entourage 2008, click the File menu, click Import.
- Click Contacts or messages from a text file and then click the arrow to the right.
- Click through to import contacts from a tab-or comma-separated text file and then click the arrow to the right.
- Looking to import text file, and then click Import.
- On the screen Import contacts are listed in the field Assigned fields the fields that could be assigned from Entourage. In the left column of the Mapped fields box lists the available fields in Entourage, in the right fields of the imported text file.
- Drag fields from the field Unallocated fields to the right column of the Mapped fields box. For example, you can select the phone number (office) in the right hand column of the Mapped fields box next to the field 1 Phone (take office).
- You can also areas within the right-hand column of the Mapped fields box draw.
- You can view other contact records and verify the proper allocation of the data by clicking the Next or Previous. Tip To avoid data loss, the checkbox is not associated fields in the Notes to import ".
- Click on completion of the mapping fields, click Import.
