Mac OS X: Create a Zip Archive file with a single click

The management of compression / decompression in Mac OS X is relatively simple to use. It is for example very easy to create a ZIP archive from a directory or file selection.

On the desktop, or in the Finder, simply right click on a folder or selected files, then click on "Create Archive". If you have not enabled the right click of the mouse on Mac OS X, you can go through the Action menu, or press CTRL then left-click. The archive will be placed in the directory where you are at the moment of action.

    To decompress
, it's even easier since simply double-click on an archive system that automatically decompresses the directory where you are. A directory with the name of the archive is created.

    Compress Multiple files at once.

You can also compress multiple different files (such as three, for example) into one single archive file at once with just Command-click (or Shift-click contiguous files) on all files you want to include, then choose Create archive of X items from the action menu. A file will be created called "Archive.zip" (that's it!). By the way, if someone sends you a ZIP file, don’t sweat it - just double-click it and Mac OS X Tiger will automatically decompress.
