You've probably noticed statement that the tool has been widely reviewed in terms of how windows are displayed. Now everything looks tidy on the line.

Here are some Snow Leopard useful shortcuts after pressing F3 or F9:
    • Command-Shift-1 to store windows alphabetically
    • Command-Shift-2 to store windows by application. Also click on the icons from the dock to display only the windows concerned
    • Key space on a window to view in full size
    • TAB key to navigate through the windows individually

Another tip for Expose, keep pressing an icon on the dock (except Paper) to view all open windows.

Finally, drag a file to an icon dock and you can choose to place the file in a specific window of this application.

Some news on the side of the Airport Utility:
The first displays the signal directly into the AirPort menu in menubar .The second is more interesting since keeping the ALT key while clicking the AirPort (WiFi), a lot of information is (Power Signal, Mac Address, type the security, ...) This function was already Available in Leopard, but was less accurate

    Minimize windows on Snow Leopard

Under Leopard, when minimizing a window, it placed in the dock, which could turn the dock into a real mess to strength. In Snow Leopard, there is another way:

Go to the Dock menu system preferences and then select Reduction of windows in the application icon. Now when you minimize a window, it takes place in the icon and not the dock.Minimized windows will also appear separately in statement.

You have surely noticed, the preference pane has disappeared from the version in QuickTime Snow Leopard. Quite annoying when one is accustomed to a certain behavior from his favorite player. Besides, why is that?

Here are some command lines to change preferences via Terminal.

Start reading from the start (Autoplay)

    defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGPlayMovieOnOpen 1
    Always hide the title bar

    defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGCinematicWindowDebugForceNoTitlebar 1
Always hide the title bar and controller

    defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGUIVisibilityNeverAutoshow 1
    Disable round corners

    defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGCinematicWindowDebugForceNoRoundedCorners 1
    Hide the controller faster

    defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGUIVisibilityTimeout 1
Note that you can also reinstall Quicktime 7 from the Utilities folder to access your QT Pro license and recover all the missing features of QuickTime X.

Show the date in the menubar :

A feature long requested by users and has taken so long to arrive. Snow Leopard can finally display the date in the menubar via the preferences menu systems. so No need to go through a third party program now to make this tweak.

Now when you take a screenshot, the file is named Screenshot 2009-08-28 to 21.49.07 instead of the traditional image 1. No solution except to launch an Automator script every time if you have several images to be renamed.

    To remedy this, simply:
    • Launch Automator, choose File Action
    • In the first column, select Files and Folders
    • In the second column, select Find items in the Finder and Rename Finder Items
    • Then apply the settings you want
