How to change 'My Pictures' folder path

Hi,

I want to know if what I am asking is possible.
By default we have our My pioctures folder in My document folder in C drive. But I want to change the path of my pictures to D drive somewhere in a folder say "abc". Now the question is that I can change or say cup pest the folder where I want but how can I tell windows to find this new path for storing images or other things etc.

Is there any way I can change the path of the "My Pictures" folder for Start menu etc? How to change 'My Pictures' folder path

The folders you are referring to are called Shell Folders.

You require to do a quick Registry modification.

1. Open Registry Editor - “regedit” in run
2. Expand the branches to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders then choose My Pictures:
3. Double click the “My Pictures” registry entry & enter new path you desire.
say "D:\hello\pics"
This will take effect immediately but its better if you just restart your system.

The best & simple way is to download a simple file from Microsoft that will enable you to do these registry changes.
Try TweakuiXP
Open the program & then go to LH pane
There you select the My pictures folder & then select the new location. That's it & You are done.

I was really worried if its not possible but you guys saved me from a lot of big trouble. Now I can change the official location of my pictures folder without worrying anymore. The TweakuiXP is an amazing tool for those who hate the registry.

I sorta have the same problem ....BUT I am using win xp sp3 and I sorta killed my "my pictures" yes I know it was stupid of me BUT I managed to do what the other guy did before and I guess i did it wrong this time and deleted my "My Pictures"..oops

My question is how do I go about recreating the folder so I can go back and do it the right way?
