    How to Manage features in vista

    Access features of Windows
    • Open the Control Panel, then select Programs and Features.
    • In the Tasks pane on the left, choose Enable or disable Windows features.


    You can disable or enable the following features.

    Telnet: Connect to remote computers using the Telnet protocol.

    TFTP client: C binding rivial F ile T T P rotocol Transfer (Protocol simplified file transfer).

    Optional components for tablet PC: Add or Remove accessories, such as the input panel tablet PCs, Windows and log capture tool, and adds or removes certain components, such as modules for recognition of handwriting.

    Remote Differential Compression: Calculates and transferred via a network connection differences between two objects using a minimum bandwidth.

    Earpiece RIP: Hear updates routes sent by routers that use the protocol routing information version 1 (RIPv1).

    Collaboration space Windows: Sharing with neighbors defines the desired documents or programs. Useful for meetings.

    SNMP feature: This feature includes SNMP agents that analyze the activity of network devices and send their report to the workstation of the network console.

    • WMI SNMP Provider: Allows customers to use the WMI SNMP information through the CIM model as implemented by WMI.


    Removable Storage Management: Catalog and manage removable media and operates automated removable media.

    Games: Chess Titans, Dame de Pique, Minesweeper, FreeCell, .

    Server queuing Microsoft (MSMQ):
    • Core server MSMQ (Microsoft Message Queue): This feature installs the main components of MSMQ that allows you to perform the basic functions of Message Queuing. This function is a minimum requirement.

      • Shutter MSMQ: Message Queue Triggers can call a COM component or as an executable that you set filters for incoming messages in a given queue.
      • Support for multicasting: Allows you to send messages to a multicast IP address. You can associate queues to a multicast IP address. Messages sent to the multicast IP address will be delivered to queues associated with this IP address.
      • Supports HTTP MSMQ: To expose a queue to the Internet so that applications can send messages to the queue using the HTTP protocol. This feature requires Internet Information Server

    • MSMQ DCOM Proxy: DCOM Proxy Service allows applications to use MSMQ MSMQ API to establish a DCOM connection to a remote MSMQ server.


    Telnet Server: allow others to connect to your computer via the Telnet protocol.
