Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12 has new feature of remote media streaming. It is called as Internet Media Sharing. It is integrated with an online ID Provider like Windows Live ID. Users can access their music files over the internet located on a their home computer.
To configure Remote Media Streaming on both the remote and local computer you need do the following setting in Windows Live 7:
Double click on Windows Media Player and then click on Stream and Allow Internet access to home media.
Then in Internet Home Media Access box click on Link an online ID.
If don't have your windows account then first you will need to create the account by downloading the Windows Live Provider first.
Click Add an online ID provider.
Now on your web browser click on plug-in to use Windows 7.
Close your browser after downloading the plug in.
Install the plug in.
Now you will see the Windows Live ID listed. Click on it.
Type in your user id and password to sign in.
Your Windows Live ID is now linked to your Windows account.
Start you Windows Media Player and then click Allow Internet access to home media.
After a UAC prompt you will see the confirmation screen.
Now you are done with the first part of configuring Remote Media Streaming on your pc. Follow the same steps on the other computers also.
When you are done on both pc restart your Windows Media Player 12.
