How to take Windows Movie Maker on a USB stick

The arrival of Live Movie Maker has signed the death warrant of Windows Movie Maker. The latter is no longer in Windows 7 for example. The problem is that Live Movie Maker Beta is a far less advanced than Windows Movie Maker. But thanks to a group of passionate users, Movie Maker is back now in version "portable" enriched many effects and is compatible with XP, Vista and Windows 7!

Windows Movie Maker (WMM) is a video editing software extremely easy to use and quite a wealth of features (at least in the Vista version). It is within reach of all the concepts of production and assembly.

Portable Movie Maker is a reassembled by a fan of the software, DevRexster, who regretted not to have this great product on Windows 7. Indeed, Microsoft has abandoned in favor of WMM Live Movie Maker software, a tool in beta much less complete.

Portable Movie Maker is an adaptation of the Vista version enriched with many things: the program has indeed 147 transition effects and 76 special effects.

It can also be placed on a USB drive and run directly from it (although this is not recommended).

In addition it also works well under Vista than under Windows XP or even Windows 7!

    - Download the ZIP file by following this link.

    - Unpack the ZIP file if available on disk in a folder named PWM you place either available on the desktop or on a disc easily accessible.

    - Using the Explorer (My Computer in XP, Computer in Vista/Windows 7), open the folder where you unpacked the archive.

    - Locate the icon RunOnce (or RUNONCE.EXE according to the preferences of your system). Double-click it. This operation should be performed only once per machine. Under Vista and Windows 7, RunOnce must run with elevated: click the right mouse button and select Run as administrator.

The software is now ready for operation.

To start, use Explorer to open the folder where the archive was unpacked and then double-click the icon moviemker (or moviemk.exe).

The easiest way in the future is to place a shortcut directly on the desktop, holding the right button down to drag the icon moviemker onto the desktop and then select "Create Shortcut Here".
