Service Pack 2 for Windows XP contains new features and also fixes several security vulnerabilities. However, compatibility problems may occur with certain programs, so Microsoft has published this guide to completely uninstall the SP2.

- Follow the instructions on the screen to remove the Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Using the hidden folder $ NtServicePackUninstall $
- Click Start, click Run, type c: \ windows $ NtServicePackUninstall $ \ spuninst \ spuninst.exe in the Open box, then click OK.
- Once the wizard Remove Service Pack 2 Windows XP starts, click Next.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to remove the Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Using System Restore process
- Click Start, click Run, type% SystemRoot% \ System32 \ restore \ rstrui.exe in the Open box, then click OK.
- Click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next.
- Click on the date on which you installed Service Pack 2 Windows XP, and then click Install Windows XP Service Pack 2 in the Restore Point.
- Click Next, then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to remove the Windows XP Service Pack 2.
