Users try lots of tricks to prevent their important datas from other visitors, like creating User accounts, keeping Passwords and lots more. One more tip to do so is setting up the number of logon attempts. This way there will be only a certain number tries at your password before the account is locked out for a set period of time. But unfortunately this tip will only work in Vista Business and Ultimate only.Lets get know how:-
- Click the Start Orb > All Programs > Administrative Tools.
- Click Local Security Policy.
- If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
- Double click Account Policies.
- Click Account Lockout Policy.
- In the details pane, double click Account lockout threshold.
- Set the value to the number of failed logon attempts you want to allow, then click Ok.
- The Suggested Value Changes dialog box will appear. then click OK to accept the default values.
- If you want to change the default values of the lockout time, double click Account Lockout Duration and change the settings, click Ok when finished.
- You can also adjust the Account Lockout counter the same way.
Thats it...
