In Windows XP as an operating system, you are able to store your data on hard disk drive with vey low space than it's normal size. You are not required to install any third party software or compression or decompression software in order to access your data, you are able to access windows in built data compression or decompression facility in order to manage disk space query.

I am sure most of the users are tensed and worried about the securing their file and folder too, so another efficient feature is you are able to protect compressed file and folders with the help of password.

Steps To Apply Password And Compression Feature In Windows XP Operating System:

Initially enter My Computer and try to locate the disk where you need to create or compress (zipped) folder. Consider an example that you need to create a compress (zipped) folder on C drive, then try to open C drive.

You will find the File menu, enter the New and then click on Compress (zipped) Folder option provided in that segment.

Try to rename the folder as per the content inside that document and click on Enter button.

You are easily able to drag and drop or copy and paste or move your data and folders to this compress (zipped) folder as after that compression feature will start on itself on that data.

In order to open the compressed file, just right click on compressed folder and then click on the option Extract All. This option will help you to start the extract wizard which will extract all content of the files to a location where you have selected.

As you need to protect the compress folder with password, just open the compress folder and enter the File menu and then click on Add a Password option available.

You will view a dialog box appearing having a title Add Password, in that just type password inside Password box and then press on confirm password and then press Ok button to set the password on the compress file.

Now whenever you try to access the compress folder, system will immediately ask you to enter password in order to open the file.

So friends wasn't that easy. You can save your atmost data files and contents with this method and only can be accessed by you if unless the other person knows your password.

This method is much more better than the usage of third party software which may increase addtition of one more number of software and thus use your system process or memory.
