    Tweak Firefox Browsing Speed

Firefox 3 download day has come and gone. It broke records… and servers. It took a little getting used to when I downloaded it. There were things I loved, and things I hated about it. I didn’t really like the Awesome bar. The good news is that I received a few recommendations for things to do to improve my FF 3 experience.

    Re: Tweak Firefox Browsing Speed

    For broadband speed Firefox up:

    • Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
    • network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
    • Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
    • Alter the entries as follows:
    • Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
    • Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
    • Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
    • Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
    • If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!

To speed up your internet connection with FireFox Follow these steps:

    1. In FireFox address bar (where you type the website address) type about:config and hit enter.
    2. In filter box just below the address type in network.
    3. Then scroll down half way untill you see network.http.pipeling. Click on the right column to change the value to True.
    4. Now below this row change the value of network.http.pipeling.maxrequests to 10.
    5. Then click ok and restart FireFox.
