Enable / Disable Flip3D in Vista

The Flip3D is a visual tool to Vista (equivalent to the ALT + TAB), which allows switching between open windows. To use this tool, press the Windows key + TAB or the Windows key + Shift + TAB. To freeze the screen, use the Windows logo key + CTRL + TAB, then use the arrows to select a window and press the ENTER key.

Note: The tool will not work if Aero is disabled.

To disable (or reactivate) the tool without having to disable Aero, follow these steps:

    For professional and full editions

Type gpedit.msc in the search bar in the Start menu and press the ENTER key.
    • Go to: Computer Configuration> Administrative Templates> Windows Components> window manager of the Bureau.
    • Make a double-click Do not allow the invocation of Flip3D.
    • Check the box and press on (check the Disabled or Not Configured to reactivate the Flip3D).
    • The changes will be made after the reopening of the session.

    For all editions
    • Save the registry database if necessary.
    • Open the Registry Editor
    • Locate the key:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows
    • If you can not find the key DWM, create it (Edit menu> New> Key)
    • Create a new DWORD value with the name DisallowFlip3d (Edit menu> New> DWORD Value)
    • Please double click this value and enter 1 to disable Flip3D or 0 to enable it.
    • The changes will be made after the reopening of the session.
