If the error code 0x80070002 or 0x80070003 Windows Update appears when searching for updates, you must delete temporary files update that Windows uses to identify updates for your computer. To delete temporary files, follow these steps!

- Stop the Windows Update service

- Delete temporary files update

- Restart the Windows Update service and look for new Windows updates. .


To stop the Windows Update service :

You must be logged on as an administrator to complete these steps.

  1. Click Start, Control Panel, then click on Administrative Tools.
  2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, provide the password or confirmation.
  3. Right-click on the Windows Update service, and then click Stop.


To delete temporary files updated :

  1. Click on Start and then click Computer.
  2. Double-click the local hard disk where Windows is installed (drive C in general). At home it is the D! The exception that proves the rule.
  3. Double-click the Windows folder, then click the folder SoftwareDistribution.
  4. Double-click the folder DataStore to open it, then delete all files and folders it contains. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, provide the password or confirmation.
  5. Click the button. In the SoftwareDistribution folder, double-click the Download folder to open it, then delete all the files it contains.
  6. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, provide the password or confirmation.
  7. Then start the Windows Update service
  8. Click Start, Control Panel, then click on Administrative Tools.
  9. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, provide the password or confirmation.
  10. Right-click on the Windows Update service, and then click Start.

The removal of temporary files update fixes the problem sometimes but also removes the history of Windows Update!
