If you Experience Problems with Internet Explorer 7 ( Impossible to start, error messages, slow display pages ...), here are some tips You can try to fix it:

    1. Test if the problem comes from your homepage:

      • Click Start / Run, type iexplore about: blank and click OK.

      • This Command will Effectively Start Internet Explorer as your Start Page.

      • If Internet Explorer opens correctly on a blank page, the problem comes from your start page. Change in Tools / Internet Options.

      • If the problem persists, go to the next step.

    2. Cleaning the browser:

    3. Start IE without add-ons:

    • Add-ons are extensions of IE whose primary objective is to improve navigation. Unfortunately, trojans can install in your back add-ons (search bars, for example).

    • IE7 can be started without add-ons (a kind of safe mode browser).

    • Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools and select Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

    • If IE7 starts normally or malfunctions disappear, the culprit is an add-on.

    • To determine which normally restart IE7 and test the different modules, one after another as shown in this topic until you find one that impedes the functioning of IE.

    • This module will be uninstalled / reinstalled if it is legitimate, illegitimate if it is deleted (For this you can ask for help in the forum Virus and Security.

If malfunctions are always present, go to the next step.

    4. Test IE being logged under another name

    • If you have multiple user accounts, start a session on another account and test Internet Explorer.

If it works properly, the problem comes from your own user account.
The first things to do in this case is to detect the presence of a virus / Trojan installed on your session.

If you need help, ask for help in the forum Virus and Security.

To troubleshoot a serious malfunction (Internet Explorer not boot at all and the previous steps have failed), you can also reset the Internet Explorer settings (your session): In Control Panel / Internet Options / Advanced / under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset.

For more information about resetting parameters and its consequences, see this document Microsoft

Resetting settings entails the loss of all passwords saved in IE.

    • If you have a single user account, you can create another (temporarily) in Control Panel / User Accounts / Create a new account.

Once done, please login under the new account and test IE7
