    Speed up vista boot up

    Enable booting up with multiple cores.

    By default vista utilizes only one core of the cpu irrespective of multiple cores available... follow these steps to ensure that your windows boot up utilizing all your processing power....

    1)Click the Start button.Type in msconfig and press enter.
    2)In the System Configuration window, click the Boot tab.
    3)Click the Advanced Options button.
    4)Check the Number of processors box and change the number to whatever your pc supports.
    5) Click on ok.


    Speeding up the hard drive

    Vista has a feature of utilizing the hard drive to its max, but in the event of power failure, there are chances of data loss....thats why this feature is turned off.....But if you got some backup power through UPS, you can enable this feature.....
    Note: try this only if you got an UPS for auxilary power.

    1)Right click on My Computer icon on the desktop and click properties. Click on device manager.
    2) click on the little plus sign in front of Disk drives to display your hard drive(s).
    3)choose the hard drive you want to optimize.Right click on it and click properties.
    4)Click the Policies tab.
    5)Check the Enable advanced performance box and click OK.

    I tried many ways to Speed up vista boot but in the end all the tweaks are related to startup. But now i am going to try this stuff out. Hope this helps...
