How to fix a proxy error on Windows 8.1. I am getting a proxy server not responding error on this. I had tried checking all the settings but still it is not working. The settings were configured by the IT guy who is not available now. And I am unable to use internet here. I hope there will be some option available through which I can resolve the problem.

To fix that you have to verify the proxy settings in your system. For that launch Internet Explorer and then click on Tools. Go in Internet Options and then click on Connections. There you can find a LAN section. Click on LAN settings. In that checkout the firewall option and see that the web access is not blocked. If this is not working then you have to contact the IT person for that.

There is one more place where you can look and it will help you to resolve the problem you are facing. For that you have to go in Tools > Internet Option in IE. You can see a connection button there. Click on it and then click on Lan Settings. Again at the bottom you will see one more connection button. Click on that. And then look for Proxy Server. If there is a tick mark on that then just remove it.

The above method will disable the proxy. But you also have to see whether you are really using a proxy server or not. If you are then turning those settings are not recommended. But if not then the above method will surely help. Contact your network guy and ask him whether he has configured a proxy or not. If yes then you have to re-verify the settings.
