    My ISP redirects requests

Sometimes when I want to go to a site, my ISP (AtlanticBB) redirects the request to a site owned by AtlanticBB. (redirects to Atlantic Financial)

For instance today I wanted to see a movie, so I was installing the movie player online, the player said it needs dot-net frameworks and will go to M$ and get it and install it for me.

When the Graboid video player installer tried to go and get the dot netframes2 the computer hung up the Atlantic Financial site.

I have Atlantic Financial site blocked in my firewall. How can I get the ISP to release my request so it can go and get the required software at Microsoft??

    Thanks

First of all Graboid video player is not safe and if you will read from their terms and conditions then they have already mentioned that this software will oeriodically communicate with Graboid servers and/or Graboid Software installed by other users which means thats other users will have access to your computer and your data as well which is very risky. So you should not install the same software on your computer.

And if you want to install the latest .net frameworks then simply go to the microsoft site and then download its .exe file and run the file by right clicking on it and then choosing the option to Run as Admin. Also, go to the firewall settings and unblock the Atlantic Financial site incase if you are sure that it is a safe site.

It's not only Graboid, it's lots of other sites also including some youtube sites,Graboid was a bad choice, I wont go near it again. For certain sites I have to use a proxy to get there because of Atlantic Financial. I block Atlantic Financial because I resent it taking over my surfing and giving orders that supersede mine.
I'll see if I can get another example.

Which internet browser are you using? Have you tried to go into the browser settings and then changing its homepage to about blank and check if the browser opens without the atlantic webpage? If it is still opening with the same webpage then you will have to scan your pc with some antivirus software and remove all the nasties from your computer. Some antivirus guides are given here - How to Master MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware

O.K. It's up to its old tricks again. Malwarebytes is running.

I want to go to NASA URL deleted.

    The connection has timed out

The server at NASA URL deleted is taking too long to respond.

Well no wonder it timed out. Look who is holding up the traffic in the firewall.

    It's 174.140.87.16 ...who is 174.140.87.16

    174-140-87-016-dhcp.atlanticbb (174.140.87.16)

    Smart whois:
    174.140.64.0 - 174.140.127.255
    Atlantic Broadband Finance, LLC ATLANTICBB-JOHNSTOWN (NET-174-140-64-0-1) 174.140.64.0 - 174.140.127.255

I requested NASA, ..NOT Atlantic Financial~!! How can I stop the pigs from redirecting my request ??

Firewall is clogged with blocked attempts of trying to send my request to AtlanticBB Financial, and then AtlanticBB sends the message back that
NASA URL deleted is taking too long to respond. Well I say get the hell out of the way and let the request go through to NASA as I requested in the first place~!!

    Re: My ISP redirects requests

Problem solved by using a proxy. Now I can actually go directly to a site such as Java and download the software.!!!

No more watching the hourglass while my ISP strangles the connection...LOL ..Yay~!!

    Re: My ISP redirects requests

A better fix turned out to be using an alternate DNS server. in TCP/IP properties I changed ISP DNS server to free public server...no more spinning hourglass.

Yipee~!! Thanks for the great forum and helpful tech savvy people. You give great ideas.
