Maximum characters in Meta tags

Wanted to know what are the Maximum characters in Meta tags allowed. Is there any limit in Title, keywords, and Description?

Meta description is the number of characters - In Google, the search results list will only display up to 80 characters. Therefore, the number of characters in the description, it is recommended from 40 characters to 80 characters. I think 60 to 70 maximum characters in Meta tags are there.

I think the same vary as per search engine. There might be minor difference only. Here in Google you have around 69 Characters for a Page Title and 156 for Meta Description. This are counted with spaces. On the other hand for Yahoo the Page Title characters increase to 72 and 161 for Meta description. The example you can see in the search result itself. Some search engine like Ask.com allows you to have a much bigger meta description. I do not think it is possible to optimize the same in respect to every search engine.
