There are two types of search engines. One kind word has indexed everything and do not look at the subject. The "robot" that the WWW pages afstruint looking for information, for words to index is called a "spider" or affectionately known as a "bot" called. Examples of such search engines are Google, Altavista, and Alltheweb. The other type of engine (actually directory or portal website) looks at the issue and communicate them broadly, so does the Web sites with a number of keywords. Examples of such search engines include Yahoo and DMOZ. These search engines do not assume all sites, but used mostly by users or application by the editors themselves.

Not all search engines are the same, just as committed. There may be points in favor or against, the way to bring the results may change in the visitor's interest might be less tempted to visit a store if the clerk was not very precise or vague.

There are generic search engines, where you can find all kinds of pages, and there are also thematic, where only pages that discuss a specific topic.

When we record a test page that belongs to the finder or topic, or otherwise it is almost certainly not accept it.

The inability of search engines to index everything led to the emergence of meta-search engines. This locks the search engines by demand for various search engines and combine the result. An example of meta search engines: Metacrawler and Multi Crawl. Naturally, these search engines are no more than what is indexed. So if you want to impress not only search engines but mainly it's about visitors who are interested in a particular subject

Re: How many types of Search engines are present

The directories have specialized in the topic surveyed about 1500 all over the web. However, only a dozen engines capture 90% of all traffic addressed to the search engines, and these are the ones that really matter. It is therefore not just a matter of how many but also which does not make sense to be the first in a ranking that no one ever looks at the web. The major search engines are: Google, MSN, and Yahoo.

There are over 40 different search engines. It seems to me that I cannot list out all of those at once here.

One can distinguish three major types of search engines, each individual, we want to explain in detail:
    • Full-text search engine
    • Meta search engines
    • Catalog search engines (directories)

A search engine entry (by machine) can be used when full-text catalog and search engine to perform search engines. Metasearch results from the question on several search engines.

Re: How many types of Search engines are present

Many times we talk about search engines and focus on Google, but even if this is the most important search engine today, we must say that is not the only important thing is not the only one who has to pay attention, or much less. Moreover, there are four types of search engines, let's move to list right now:
    • Based on crawlers, are the most traditional, such as Google.
    • Directories, edit people, not machines.
    • Hybrids, as its name suggests, are a mixture of the two above.
    • Payment by inclusion, yes, you are imagining, each site that wants to enter these directories is to pay a fee.
