How to connect ichat to google talk in Mac OS X 10.6.8?

As the title says it all so I think you all must have got an idea about what I am going to inquire. Actually I am not able to connect ichat to google talk. This problem I am facing since yesterday. I have heard this lot that there are people who are facing problems on twitter. I am getting error message like ichat can’t login into talk.google.com because my user id and password is incorrect. I don’t think that this should be an issue as they must be in keychain. Does anybody have any idea regarding this context? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Below I have mentioned my system information and programs details.
    • iChat server settings: talk.google.com
    • iChat port settings: 5223
    • iChat 5.0.3 (745)
    • Mac OS X 10.6.8

I have faced this issue recently. The problem which I think was because my email address was in conflict. I had the email address on both the google account and google apps domain account. Then I had deleted my google apps domain account and found that the problem that I was having got resolved. I didn’t have any problem with my personal google account. After deleting, I am now able to easily log in and use the google services. I am not confirmed that the issue of mine got resolved because of this but I think that this could be the main reason because of which my ichat wasn’t working with the google talk.

I have gone through your issue thoroughly that you have mentioned above. I would just like to ask you that can you use browser to search google? Kindly reply to me in the next post as it will be possible for me to identify the issue. There is a Trojan around which redirects all calls to google.

I hope you are doing everything properly. I would like you to follow my steps below and try to connect the ichat to google talk by the steps I am mentioning. Firstly I would like to say that if you are using mac operating system which is older than mac then I would say that you won’t be able to connect google talk.
    • First try to open iChat.
    • then from the iChat menu, select Preferences
    • Then try to click Accounts along the top of the dialogue box.
    • Click the + button along the bottom to add a new account.
    • Select Jabber Account from the Account Type drop-down menu.
    • Enter the following information in the appropriate fields
    • Click Add.
    • Highlight your new account in the Accounts section, and then click Server Settings.
    • Enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
    • Check the boxes next to Connect using SSL and Allow self-signed certificates.
    • Enter iChat in the Location field.
