In practice, the installation of each application creates an icon on the interface of the Chrome browser that allows offline operation. In this mode only changes the Gmail user interface compared to online, the others remain unchanged. The feature will initially be limited. On the other hand Google Calendar while offline you can see every appointment and manage invitations.

Indeed in the past, Google had already made available through the general solutions of these Gears plug-in for browsers, but in 2010 the project was canceled. In fact, engineers have chosen to focus on the potential of new package format HTML5 web based applications, which will be accessible in the future to include other browsers and other services.

Calendar and Docs, however, are still strongly attached to traditional web version that Google offers to its users, which is now accessible online. Even in this case only a portion of the available features are present even in the absence of a connection: Calendar allows you to view events have already been created, while the Docs offers the possibility of read-only access to files created in the past. In the coming weeks then the engineers intend to implement also a tool for offline editing of documents, allowing you to work at anytime, anywhere.

I do not really know what to make of this new off-realization. This iPad view on the desktop is already unusual. To change the label, you must first click one extra button .. Since the implementation of Gears was nice, we had the normal view with virtually all functions. Also a pity that you cannot set how many conversations or whatever is to be made available offline.
