How to put youtube video in imovie using mac?

I am having mac system at my home. I like watching videos on youtube and on many websites. There are many videos on youtube which I like and I want to put them in my imovie. I want to put in imovie HD 06 and edit it. I am not sure whether it is possible or not. Does anybody have any idea related to this? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Well you can go to the keepvid.com and copy the url of the video (youtube) that you want and paste it in the text box in keepvid.com. After pasting just click on the download button and then choose the format of the video that you want for imovie. Then start downloading, once the video is downloaded it gets saved in your system and you can use it afterwards.

You must download the file and convert the file into .flv format. Imovie supports this format and will allow you to play the videos.

You can use youtube downloader to download the videos. I am sure that there is one version of it which is free. First just get the free youtube downloader downloaded and then try to use it. You can download the software from google website. I would say that just google on the internet and look for it. Get it downloaded and install it into your system. To download videos from youtube, just follow the steps given by me below,
    • First copy the URL of the YouTube video clip to the clipboard.
    • Then paste the URL you copied into the text box and hit submit.
    • A link will be displayed in a few moments for you to click and download.
    • Select the location and let the video get downloaded.
After the download you can covert the video in any format you want. Make sure that format supports imovie. To convert a video I would suggest you to use format factory. You can find this software on google and get it download. It is a free program and a very good program. You get many format options in that. After that out the video’s in the imovie and enjoy.

    try this,
    • Well first go to the YouTube website i.e. http://www.youtube.com/
    • Then open Activity Monitor (Option + Command + A)
    • In the listing of files, find the one that is in MB, not KB (you might have to look around, but the video file is generally the largest)
    • Then double click that file, It will download
    • Add .flv to the file that is downloaded
    • Use any program to convert it to appropriate format (I use an MoviePod)

    I hope this works.

You can also use iSqunit program to convert the files into imovie compatible files. Isqunit is a free program.

I think if you want to download youTube videos then you can use vixy.net websites. For this you just have to copy your YouTube video link and you have to just paste this link in to this vixy.net website and then try to select your format accordingly and then it will give you option for downloading the file. Just proceed by downloading the file and drag that video into iMovie.
