How do you turned off Google's Instant feature

I tried clicking the link next to the search bar to turn off instantly. I mark a return to the main page with Instant still on. I tried to change via the preferences. As soon as I go on tour again instantly. The closest I can tell, there is no way to realize this "feature" off. I'm using Firefox 3.6.9, if nothing changes. This is really annoying. If you are a new feature to irritate people stupid, at least I could do was to allow an exclusion clause that really works.

• First login to Google or Gmail
• Right side top you will find preferences. Double click on preferences.
• Go to bottom of page and you will find "Google Instant"
• Select "Do not use Google Instant."
• click Save Preferences.

In Firefox: If you are working on the "private browsing" mode (Tools> Start Private Browsing) will not be able to permanently disable Google's instant. The private browsing mode deletes the history and cookies so your Google search preferences are lost.

If you are running Firefox then do this to put off Google's instant forever.

1. Type "about: config" in the url
2. Type in "Firefox" in the filter search bar
3. locate the one that says "general.useragent.extra.firefox"
4. double-click it and a dialog box will appear saying "Enter string value"
5. delete what is not and type in "www.google.com"
6. Now press enter
