    GPS Navigation for iPhone

Those of you who own a 3G iPhone will certainly have already tried this last feature location-based model. Well the ability to detect its position within a map is nothing short of amazing, superb. This feature is greatly improved compared to that present on the first generation iPhone, which does not have a true GPS chip relies on the method to a complicated process of triangulation between a Wi-Fi and the cell which is connected to the Our mobile phone. But when it comes to use the iPhone GPS to navigate to a destination outside are some shortcomings in the management software that let appalled. Yes, because the indications of the direction provided from the iPhone 3G are far from those provided by a dedicated device can be as TomTom Go.

Each time you arrive at a precise point you need to press a button "Next" to see the next one appear. And this in addition to being very dangerous when a guide can not certainly be what the Americans call "a good experience, good experience. Long street navigation to motorists was reserved, there are now consistently good solutions for those who want to be active away from the major roads. Prerequisite for the outdoor navigation are the one detailed maps and other robust hardware.

Raster maps are stored as an image, they have the format eg jpg, tif or bmp. Advantage is that they can be very detailed in the map. Proven software solutions for route planning like to fall on topographic maps back to the roads and have recorded all the forest, crosses, vegetation cover, disadvantage of raster maps, etc., however, that current GPS devices do not read them. This means that the card is only available at home or on the screen then as an expression, but not in the digital terrain.

MagicMaps this problem has been extensively adopted and solutions presented. First, there is now a grid cards suitable software for PDAs / smartphones, a GPS mouse to a GPS device to get the same and also an extension for TomTom car navigation devices.

In both cases, a tour will be prepared at home and then transfer including topographic map on the PDA or smartphone, or a falcon navigation device. In order for a GPS navigation on high-quality cards is possible, which offers great advantages especially in rough terrain.

I would like to discuss about the GPS maps in vector format. Vector maps are maps that are made up of lines, points and planes (vectors). The map image is thus compared to the grid map schematic and less detailed. Advantage is that the vectors may contain additional information such as street names, street types, etc. Vector maps are the basis for routing.
