Ubuntu 9.10 Applications not connecting to the internet

    Hi,
I am using a Linux laptop. I have Ubuntu 9.4 which I had upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10. I just want to give a try to the new version for some latest upgrades. But after upgrade there is a new problem in my laptop. After a upgrade my laptop is not able to connection to broadband internet connection. Firefox does not display any web page which was working well in the older version of Ubuntu.

I had too faced a similar issue like this. Last night I upgraded to 9.10 and after that my internet connection failed. I have a broad band Internet connection on my pc. The notification status on the top right does not show any indication on this. I am now not able to use Pidgin and the package manager simply fails to connect online. What should be done here.

I had found many users facing similar issue. Even my friend has faced the same issue. After a fresh upgrade in his system there is a notification which shows that the eth0 is connected but when he open up a page there is no response. I ping Google in that which shows 128 ms response time but none other Internet application is able to connect.

That is right. I tried lots of steps to fix this after upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 on my system. Even my desktop widget does not shows any online activity. The all I did is grabbed my old 9.10 installation disc and performed fresh installation on the same partition. That means I formatted my system. Now after proper configuration my internet works well. The widget also says the net is active. Might be some firewall issue.

Try this out might this help you. Open Firefox and then type about:config. Here press I'll be careful button and enter. In the filter page type ipv6 and then you can browser to network.dns.disableipv6. Double click on in and check out that there must be true value instead of false on it. If it is false then just change that to true and reboot your browser.
