It is easier to do than explain. From the main window of the mail application (Thunderbird or the mail component of SeaMonkey and news), follow these steps:
    • Click the Compose button or the [Ctrl] + [M]. If you want the signature to be in plain text and you have configured the program to write in HTML, you press the [Shift] while pressing the Compose button.
    • Go directly to the message body (ignoring the recipient and the matter since you will not really create a message).
    • In the message body, type the signature you want. If you want to include images, the best option would be to use an image to a web upload yours, but you can also include an image from your hard drive as stated earlier in this document.
    • Once you have the written signature, save the text as a file by selecting File → Save As ... → file, or displaying the options and choosing File Save button.
    • Save the file to disk in a place you know.
    • You can close the composition window.

From here, you can use that file as if you had created with an external editor.

To Create the signature in Thunderbird :
    • Go to Tools menu → Settings of the accounts (Edit → Settings from the accounts on GNU / Linux or Mac OS X).
    • Select the name of the account you want to add a signature.
    • Activate the Attach this signature box.
    • Tap the pick and choose the text file we created earlier.
    • Accepted the changes.

With the extension SignatureSwitch, we can turn on / off easily for signature in the messages and to define several different firms.

Using a custom signature : If we want all the emails we send are at the foot of a signature or text message can do so easily customized.

We will create a simple text file with your favorite editor, or own message composition window, including the text of the signature (you can use txt files, html, jpg, gif and png). Note: the signatures in HTML or image format will only appear if the emails are written in HTML format.

Important: To place an image in an HTML signature in the code to use should follow the following schedule:
    On Windows: <img src="file:///c:/carpeta/nombrearchivo" width="100" height="42">

    For Mac and Linux: <img src="file:///home/usuario/carpeta/nombrearchivo" width="100" height="42">

adapted to the names of folders and files of and the size of the image.

Now, depending on the application you use, you must activate it in one form or another:
