To chat with someone in Windows Live Messenger, it must be in your contacts list. When you have a list consistently, and for you there, you can define groups. You'll be able to separate your personal contacts to business contacts, friends of your family. To add someone in your list so that you can chat with them, start Windows Live Messenger and click the Add Contact button. Enter the email address then Live Messenger or Yahoo! your correspondent. In the field Personal invitation, type a short message to send to your contact with the invitation. Then click the Add Contact button. Thats it..

You can supplement the information provided by your contacts, such as contact information, and can even specify your own so that they are automatically available to your callers. If you have many contacts in your list, you have an interest in the group by group. In addition, it allows you to send a message to all members at once.

    To create a contact group:
    1. Click the View menu, then click on Contact Create a group.
    2. Name the group.
    3. Then check the box to update the contacts to add to the group.
    4. Finally, click the Save button.
    5. The new group appears in the list. To add contacts to a group, simply click on it, drag them into the new group and then release the mouse button.

In Live Messenger, the name of your contact may be his email address. You can customize it with his nickname, for example. You can also supplement your contact information: name, address, telephone, email address, etc. To do so, click the right mouse button on the contact to rename and choose Edit contact. In the Nickname field, enter the name with which you want to see your caller appears in Windows Live Messenger. Then click on Contact.

Here you need to fill the various information about your correspondent. Then do the same for the topics Personal, Professional and Notes. Finally, click the Save button. And you are done.

To block any contact on your Windows Live messenger, Click the right mouse button on the contact you want to block. In the menu that appears, choose Block Contact. Caller sees more and more you can post messages.

Beside the names of your contacts in the main Messenger window, there are a small icon and a text with their status. Your friends may indeed not be connected, but also be occupied or available. So you know immediately who is online or not. You may also be informed of the connection of one of your contacts with a small warning window. Useful if the Messenger window is reduced.
