Increase the size of network packets

Is there any technique that I can use to increase the size of network packets ? I guess that by increasing the size of the network packets, I can gain a faster speed of the internet as well as a fast access to the network. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and my browser is Mozilla Firefox. Please help me with any possible suggestions.

Re: Increase the size of network packets

Here is some information about the network packets and its default size:
    • Default value: 512
    • Range of values: 512– 65535
    • Status: Static
    • Display level: Intermediate
    • Required role: System Administrator
    • Configuration groups: Memory Use, Network Communication, User Environment

You just have to change the default values, but it must be in the siven range. You will have your problem solved.

Re: Increase the size of network packets

Thank you for your reply, atleast I came to know that the increase in the size of network packets can be done. But, I could not understand how to reconfigure the size of the network packets from its default network size. I cannot understand where the settings are to change the size of the network packets. I looked in the whole Internet Settings, but could not find any such option. I need suitable help, please reply. Thanks again in advance.

I do not have much information about increasing the size of the network packets, but I guess that you will have to look in the ISO:OSI model for this problem. The packet layer is the one that manages the size of the packets and the network layer manages the flow of the packets through the network. These are the two layers where you will have to do the changes and then, hopefully your problem will be solved.

Re: Increase the size of network packets

I suggest you to not play with the network settings as it may cause problems if you do even a silly mistake in it. Generally, people try to configure the network packets themselves that causes a lot of confusion in their system. To increase the size of network packets, you should contact the officials, who actually manage the network. They will configure the network packets as you want and it will be assured that there will be no problem in those settings.
