Slow wired internet

Hi all,
I have windows XP installed on my computer. I am using DSL high speed internet connected with modem. But my internet speed is very slow. It takes ages to upload or download any file. Anyone have any suggestions?

It can be a virus infection. Get a good antivirus and scan your full system. Also check for malware and adware. You will get some problems regarding transferring data if your hard drive is full or may not have enough space. So defrag your drive and check the transfer rates. Try this:

• Click on Start
• Then click Run
• Type cmd in the box
• Click OK
• Type "netstat -a" in command prompt
• Press Enter

There should be only one connection. If there are more than one connection, it must be a spyware attach. You need to clean or reformat your computer.

Update the drivers and firmware of the modem. Check all the settings of your modem. Reset all the network connection if required. Unplug your modem and wait for some time. Then again plug the modem and restart your system. This will reset the modem and increase the speed. It can be a modem problem. Contact your service provider and check the lines and modem.
