How to boost weak signal of verizon dsl

Hi,
I am using Verizon dsl high speed internet. I have a d-link DIR-825 router. The set up is proper and configured fine. I get maximum speed of 1 mbps at my friend's house on laptop. But at home its too slow like 120-200 kbps. I have tested my connections with some different sites without any use. Can anyone help me with that?

You can boost your download speed but upload speed remains same. I had similar problems in past. You can contact verizon tech support. When i did the same thing, they told me its a hardware issue and i need to replace the modem. So replacing the DSL modem can be the one solution.

Try turning off UPnP if it is on. Check if the WPA is enabled. You can do it with with a wireless booster. Also go through the following threads for more information on boosting your internet speed:

If you recently downloaded or installed any software or programs. Then try to uninstall it. Check the running process in the background of your system and end the unnecessary process. Also check the system for viruses by doing full system scan with updated antivirus.
